چکیده

Geothermal energy has been a subject of great interest since the 1990s in Upper Rhine Graben (URG), where first European Enhanced System (EGS) pilot site developed, Soultz-sous-Forêts (SsF), France. Several studies have already conducted on scales occurring at reinjection side geothermal plants located URG. It observed that composition changes as chemical treatment is applied to inhibit metal sulfate. The purpose this study was model scaling phenomenon surface pipes and heat exchangers SsF plant. PhreeqC, geochemical modelling software, used reproduce observations plant during exploitation. A suitable database chosen based availability elements, minerals, gas. thermodynamic kinetic were proposed for phenomenon. gave insight possible minerals precipitated while model, after modifying initial rates equation, produced results close expected scale Additional laboratory kinetics are complement current model.

Fracture Mapping in the Soultz-sous-Forêts geothermal field from Microearthquake relocation

In 2003, a massive hydraulic fracturing experiment was carried out at the European Geothermal Hot Dry Rock site at Soultz-sous-Forêts, France. The two week injection of water generated a high level of microseismic activity. About 90,000 microearthquakes were triggered during and after this fluid injection. Of these, 21,000 events, detected at all stations, were located individually with a grid ...

Impact of Induced Thermal Stresses during Circulation Tests in an Engineered Fractured Geothermal Reservoir: Example of the Soultz-sous-Forêts European Hot Fractured Rock Geothermal Project, Rhine Graben, France — The wider concept of hot fractured rock geothermal energy is put forward to overcome the natural limitations of classic geothermal fields. A suite of numerical modules based on a disc...

Microstructural and petrophysical properties of the Permo-Triassic sandstones (Buntsandstein) from the Soultz-sous-Forêts geothermal site (France)

Geothermal projects in the Upper Rhine Graben aim to harness thermal anomalies that have arisen due to hydrothermal circulation within the granitic basement and the overlying Permo-Triassic sedimentary units. We present here a systematic microstructural, mineralogical, and petrophysical characterisation of the lowermost unit of this Permo-Triassic sedimentary succession—the Buntsandstein—sample...

Stochastic Permeability Estimation for the Soultz-sous-forêts Egs Reservoir

Information on the distribution of permeability at depth is of primary concern in geothermal reservoir engineering. Based on a tracer circulation test performed at the European Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) test site at Soultz-sous-Forêts, France, three different inversion methods are applied and studied with respect to their potential for estimating the permeability distribution: A fully ph...
